University of Tartu IT wiki

In this guide you will find instructions about Google Workspace for Education.

Google Workspace for Education is not yet fully implemented in University of Tartu. This means that the services are available only partially and access is restricted. Furthermore, current manuals are continously being updated and subjects to change.

Google Workspace for Education is a Google services package made for UT employees and is managed by the UT IT department.

  • The package includes applications such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides and more.
  • When using Google Workspace with a UT account, all data protection and security requirements are guaranteed
  • Until the service is generally available, UT employees can order an user account by creating a ticket in the request portal: Order equipment or software.

Differences with a personal account

The UT Google Workspace account cannot use all Google applications that are usually available with a personal account. For example:

  • Gmail is not available, as Outlook is used in UT.
  • Google Meet is not activated, as Microsoft Teams and Zoom is used in UT.
  • Google Calendar is not available, Outlook and Teams is used in UT.

These restrictions result from UT's internal regulations and the service package managed by the IT department.
