In this guide, you will find instructions about Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
Differences and use cases
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (M365 Copilot Chat) searches the web for answers to your prompts. It is a functionality included in the UT user account package that allows employees and students to use an artificial intelligence-based chatbot for free.
- Microsoft Copilot is suitable for simple searches and web content analysis
For more information, check Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
Microsoft 365 Copilot (M365 Copilot) accesses all of your M365 app content (SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, Teams, and more), but requires a separate paid license to use it. To order a license, fill out an application in the requests portal.
Microsoft 365 Copilot searches for answers only based on files in your M365 apps.
Examples:
- functionality can be used both directly in (web) applications and on the web (https://m365.cloud.microsoft/)
- searches for relevant content sources in your SharePoint and OneDrive files according to a created prompt
- can find email headers and content in Outlook and create summaries based on them
- can search and analyze document content in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
For more information, check Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Other information:
- Please note that when using Copilot on the web with an M365 license, you will be given the option to search your work materials (Work) or the web (Web).
- M365 Copilot Chat does not access M365 work files like M365 Copilot.
