Differences and use cases
Microsoft Copilot is suitable for simple searches and web content analysisMicrosoft 365 Copilot Chat (M365 Copilot Chat) is an AI-based chatbot that searches the web for answers to answer your prompts. It is a functionality free feature included in the UT user account package that allows for University of Tartu employees and students. When using Copilot Chat with a University of Tartu user account, you have the option to use an artificial intelligence-based chatbot for free.

- Copilot Chat does not have access to Microsoft 365 work files like Copilot does.
- If you have a Copilot license, when using Copilot Chat, you have the option to use the chatbot in two different modes: "Work" (searches work materials and, if necessary, also the web) or "Web" (searches only the web). Copilot Chat does not have access to Microsoft 365 work files like Copilot does.
- Please note that when using Copilot on the web with an M365 license, you will be given the option to search your work materials (Work) or the web (Web). M365 Copilot Chat does not access M365 work files like M365 Copilot.
