In this guide, you will find instructions about activating Microsoft software (Office, Windows etc.).

Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office licenses, that have been installed by the information technology office, require activation every 180 days.

Activation is done automatically, when the device is connected to the university's computer network, and thus is not applicable for desktop computers located on the university's campus.

Activation for Microsoft products is required for laptops, that are also being used off-campus and are not always connected to the university's computer network.

To activate the software, connect the device to the university's computer network. The options for doing that are:

  1. Connect the computer to the network using a cable;
  2. Connect the computer to eduroam;
  3. Connect the computer to the network using a VPN connection.

Microsoft Windows

Connect your computer to the university's network using a cable found in the offices. Check if the connection is active by trying to open a random website.

If the connection is established, Microsoft Windows should automatically activate. If this does not happen, restart the computer.

Microsoft Office

Connect your computer to the university's network using a cable found in the offices. Check if the connection is active by trying to open a random website.

Close all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook etc). Wait for a bit and start one of the Microsoft Office programs (i.e Word). When the program starts, the software should activate the software automatically. If this does not happen, restart the computer.

The computers that have been prepared by the Information Technology Office have eduVPN preinstalled, which allows establishing a VPN connection to the university's network.
