Nessie: A fast, flexible, and generalised friends-of-friends group finder, ready for WAVES
Redshift surveys provide essential datasets that underpin much of modern astronomy. Among the most valuable products derived from these surveys are galaxy group catalogues, which not only characterise the environments in which galaxies form and evolve, but also enable studies of the large-scale structure of the Universe and its cosmological implications. Despite their importance, group catalogues are frequently constructed anew for each survey, limiting their consistency and reusability.
In this talk, I will introduce Nessie, a fast and generalised implementation of the GAMA group finder, designed to efficiently generate galaxy group catalogues across a wide range of surveys. I will also discuss its potential applications for upcoming projects, including the WAVES and 4HS redshift surveys.
