Detectability of deuterium in spectra of A-type stars
My work focuses on young stars with accretion disks, which are the site of planet formation. These disks can influence their central star through the transfer of matter that can be reflected in the photospheric abundances. In case of ingestion of the deuterium-enriched planet by the host star, this accretion process is expected to produce enhanced deuterium abundances at the surface of the star. The aim of this study is to probe whether this process induces detectable, statistically significant deuterium enrichment signatures.
