In this guide, you will find instructions on the validity of the University of Tartu user account.
From 19.06.2025, the following user account validity periods will apply:
- The user account validity of visiting students, medical residents, external students and continuing education students studying standard subjects will be extended for 30 days after the end of study relationship;
- The user account validity of students will be extended for 90 days after exmatriculation.
After the end of an employment or study relationship, the university retains the former employee's email inbox in archived form for two years, and the former student's inbox for one year from the closing of the mailbox, unless the university and the user agree otherwise. The user is given access to the archived e-mail box, which is justified by the decision of the head of the structural unit where the user was employed and the head of digital development.
Access to the University of Tartu services is provided to the staff, students and guests through a user account. The user account identifies the user through personal data provided to the University. This allows providing different access levels for using the information systems and the computer network at the University of Tartu.
The user account is universal, which means that one username and password is used for all the information systems (except mailing lists).
The user account is automatically generated for a employee, student, external student and visiting student.
