Tartu Ülikoolis kasutatakse tsentraliseeritud printerite võrgustikku, mis võimaldab kõigil töötajatel ja tudengitel (Print In City) kasutada õppehoonetes asuvaid turvaprintereid.
Turvaprinteri kasutamiseks on vajal omada Tartu Ülikooli töötõendit (töötajad) või ID-kaarti (tudengid).
Turvaprinter:
- on kaardilugejaga (töötõendi või ID-kaardi lugemiseks),
- võimaldab printida (samuti ka paljundada ja skaneerida) ükskõik millise ülikooli turvaprinteri juures, kus tuleb printerisse sisse logida.
- on kasutajatele välja jagatud läbi kindla printserveri, mitte otse,
- ei prindi tööd kohe välja, vaid hoiustab töid printserveris 48 tundi.
The University of Tartu uses a centralized network of printers, which allows the staff and students to use a wide range of secure printers around the university campus.
The university identification card (staff) or the national ID-card (students) is required to use the secure printers.
A secure printer:
- is equipped with a card reader for reading the university identification card or the national ID-card,
- allows printing, scanning and copying from any of the secure printers around campus,
- is connected to a computer using a printserver, not directly.
- does not print immediately, but stores the job in the server for 48 hours.
