We suggest changing your account's password at least once a year.

Juhised

NB! Under no circumstances should any old (already used) password be reused! We strongly recommend that you use one password for only one environment (information system). We recommend using password management software to manage different passwords.

  • A good password is updated at least once in a year.
  • Password must contains at least 9 symbos and at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one number or special symbol.
  • Do not use characers like ö ä õ ü. You might find yourself using a keyboard, which does not have these letters on it's layour.
  • The password must be different from your username.
  • The password must not be easily guessed using a dictionary, so it must contain at least two different words or consist of one word with at least five other characters added
  • To memorize the password, use a combination of words or even a sentence, which doesn't make sense or which has parts of it misspelled on purpose. We also suggest replacing some of the letters with numbers (for example: password > Tyyl3K23vurr).

You can change your password at https://passwd.ut.ee/.

When changing the password, you will need to use the new password in all the systems.

NB! After successfully changing the password, you may experience issues when logging in to certain services. The change will be registered in different systems in about 15 minutes. During that time, you may be able to log in using your old and your new passwords. Do not be alarmed, after the synchronization has finished, only the new password will be valid.

If you have an Estonian ID-card, mobile-ID or you are using the Smart-ID service, you can use those to change your password at https://passwd.ut.ee/.

If you do not have an Estonian ID-card, mobile-ID or a Smart-ID, please contact the information technology office. You will need a valid ID with a picture (passport, driver's license etc).

You can contact the information technology office helpdesk via e-mail arvutiabi@ut.ee, phone 737 5500 or in person at Ülikooli 18a ground floor.

The helpdesk at the information technology office is working from Monday to Friday from 08.00 until 18.00.
