Aktiveerimine toimub automaatselt, kui arvuti on ühendatud Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku ning sellest tulenevalt ei puuduta käesolev juhend lauaarvuteid, mis on ühendatud Tartu Ülikooli hoonetes.
Tarkvara aktiveerimist nõuavad reeglina sülearvutid, mis on kasutuses ka väljaspool Tartu Ülikooli hooneid ning millel pole püsivat ligipääsu Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrgule.

Introduction
Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office licenses, that have been installed by the information technology office, require activation every 180 days.
Activation is done automatically, when the device is connected to the university's computer network, and thus is not applicable for desktop computers located on the university's campus.
Activation for Microsoft products is required for laptops, that are also being used off-campus and are not always connected to the university's computer network.

Tarkvara aktiveerimine
Tarkvara aktiveerimiseks tuleb arvuti ühendada Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku. Selleks on kolm võimalust:
- ühendada arvuti Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku kaabliga;
- ühendada arvuti eduroam võrku;
- ühendada arvuti Tartu Ülikooli võrguga üle VPN ühenduse.
Activating the software
To activate the software, connect the device to the university's computer network. The options for doing that are:
- connect the computer to the network using a cable;
- connect the computer to eduroam;
- connect the computer to the network using a VPN connection

Microsoft Windows
Ühendage arvuti kaabli abil Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku ning laske arvutil ühendus üles võtta. Kontrollige, kas ühendus on aktiivne proovides avada mõnda veebilehte.
Kui ühendus Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrguga on loodud, peaks Microsoft Windows end automaatselt aktiveerima. Kui seda ei juhtu, tehke arvutile taaskäivitus.
Microsoft Office
Ühendage arvuti kaabli abil Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku ning laske arvutil ühendus üles võtta. Kontrollige, kas ühendus on aktiivne proovides avada mõnda veebilehte.
Sulgege kõik Microsoft Office programmid (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook jt). Oodake paar hetke ning käivitage üks vabalt valitud Microsoft Office programmidest (nt Word). Programmi käivitumisel toimub tarkvara litsentsi kehtivuse kontroll ning aktiveerimine automaatselt, kui on olemas ühendus Tartu Ülikooli võrguga.

The following steps will explain, how to activate Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office using the university's cable network.
Microsoft Windows
Connect your computer to the university's network using a cable found in the offices. Check if the connection is active by trying to open a random website.
If the connection is established, Microsoft Windows should automatically activate. If this does not happen, restart the computer.
Microsoft Office
Connect your computer to the university's network using a cable found in the offices. Check if the connection is active by trying to open a random website.
Close all Microsoft Office programs (Word, Exce, Powerpoint, Outlook etc). Wait for a bit and start one of the Microsoft Office programs (i.e Word). When the program starts, the software should activate the software automatically. If this does not happen, restart the computer.

The computers that have been prepared by the Information Technology Office have OpenVPN preinstalled, which allows establishing a VPN connection to the university's network.
