Objective of the style guide

… is to help achieve consistency when writing on behalf of the UT or translating/editing UT-related texts. Alternatives to the “UT preferences” are most often also correct, but avoiding the interchangeable use of different conventions might contribute to the professional feel of UT communication. The guide does not aim replace grammar books or usage reference materials, vice versa: it could refer to some of the best, e.g. where to check grammar rules (its and it’s), which dictionary to follow when deciding on preferred spelling, lists on common confusions (effect vs affect), etc
