Introduction

A proxy server is an intermediary server that allows users to browse web pages anonymously to increase the privacy and security of their Internet connection.
To use a proxy server on a Mac device, the operating system proxy must be set up.

Activate proxy settings (macOS)

1. Open the Apple menu  and select System Settings.
   
   
2. Use the search bar to find the Proxies settings and open it.
   
   
3. In the menu that opens, activate Automatic proxy configuration ja enter http://ut.ee/utlib.pac into the URL field. To save, click OK.
   
   
4. The proxy of the University of Tartu has been successfully activated.

Activate proxy settings (Safari)

1. Safari automatically uses the proxy settings of the macOS operating system.

Deactivating

1. To deactivate, remove the checkmark from Automatic proxy configuration and press OK.
