Introduction

A proxy server is an intermediary server that allows users to browse web pages anonymously to increase the privacy and security of their Internet connection.
To use a proxy server on a Mac device, the operating system proxy must be set up.

Activate proxy settings (macOS)

1. Open the Apple menu Image Added and select System Settings.

2. Use the search bar to find the Proxies settings and open it.

3. In the menu that opens, activate Automatic proxy configuration ja enter http://

Setup (OS X)

1. From the Firefox menu, select Firefox -> Preferences...
2. Click on the Advanced tab and then on its Network subtab. In the "Connection -> Configure how Firefox connects to the Internet" section, click the "Settings..." button.

3. In the opened dialog, select "Automatic proxy configuration URL", enter http://www.ut.ee/utlib.pac in the dialog boxinto the URL field. To save, click OK.

4. Click OK and close the preferences dialog from the corner of the window.

Disconnecting from UT system proxy

2. The proxy of the University of Tartu has been successfully activated.

Activate proxy settings (Safari)

1. Safari automatically uses the proxy settings of the macOS operating system.

Deactivating

1. To stop using the university proxy, open the same dialog and select Direct connection to the Internet.To deactivate, remove the checkmark from Automatic proxy configuration and press OK.
