Connect to UT proxy 

Introduction

A proxy is an intermediary server that allows users to browse web pages anonymously to increase the privacy and security of their Internet connection.
To use the proxy server, the operating system and web browser settings must be configured accordingly:

  1. Configure the proxy based on your operating system.
  2. Configure the proxy based on your web browser.

Activate proxy settings (Microsoft Windows)

  1. Open proxy settings using Open Windows Start menu or the search bar → type Proxy settings → Open the search result.

  2. In the next window, locate Use setup script and click Set up.

  3. Configure as followingt:
    1. Activate Use setup script.
    2. In the Script address field, enter "http://www.ut.ee/utlib.pac".
    3. Click Save.

Deactivate proxy settings (Microsoft Windows)

  1. Open Network & internet →  Proxy →  from Use setup script select Set up.

  2. Make sure Use setup script is turned off and click Save.

Activate proxy settings (Microsoft Edge)

  1. Open Windows Start menu or the search bar and type Internet Optionsand to open the Internet Options options configuration panel.
  2. In the next window that opens, open the Connections tab and select click LAN settings.

  3. In the next window, make sure a checkmark is present before the Automatically detect settings button and click OK.

  4. If the last step did not work for some reason, try adding a checkmark in front of window that opens, check Use automatic configuration script, and enter "http://www.ut.ee/utlib.pac" into in the Address field  → vajuta . Then click OK.

  5. Click OK.

Disconnect from UT Proxy

  1. To stop using the University of Tartu's proxy server, open the same dialog and uncheck the Use automatic configuration script option.

Deactivate proxy settings (Microsoft Edge)

  1. To disable the UT proxy on Microsoft Edge, open LAN settings and remove the checkmark before Automatically detect settings/Use automatic configuration script. Then click OK.

Setup (Mozilla Firefox)

  1. First of all, follow the instructions for configuring the system's proxy server, and with that, the configuration of the use of the Universityoperating system's proxy server is complete.
  2. Select Options from From the Mozilla Firefox menu

  3. Make sure General is selected on the left. At the end of the opened page there is a setting called Network Proxy - press the Settings button next to it.

Google Chrome

  1. Use the system proxy configuration guide.

  4. If that did not work for some reason, select Automatic proxy configuration URL and insert "http://www.ut.ee/utlib.pac" into the corresponding field and click OK.
