Introduction

When using cloud service,

please apply

two-factor authentication

as soon as possible: Kaheastmelise autentimise aktiveerimine Microsoft 365-s

NB! Already existing Thunderbird account can be set up to 2FA if You change from Thunderbird Account Settings →  Servers tab → password to OAuth2. Same is needed for Outgoing Server.

Setup

NB!To use UT mailbox, the NB! Thunderbird version must be at least 77.  You can download latest version here.
The latest Thunderbird can be downloaded from:

This guide is based on Mozilla Thunderbird version 102.12.0. Install the latest version if necessary!

  1. Open the Thunderbird application.

  2. Fill in as follows:
    1. Your full name: your first name and last name
    2. Email address: UT e-mail addres in the format firstname.lastname@ut.ee
    3. Password: UT account password
    4. After entering the data, press the Continue button.

  3. The IMAP settings will be displayed, press the Done button.

    If there is a need to change the IMAP settings, select Configure manually.

  4. Enter your UT account password and click the Sign In button.

  5. Verify your identity using two-factor authentication.

  6. To allow the Mozilla Thunderbird applcation, select Accept.

  7. Mozilla Thunderbird has been set up successfully! Click the Finish button to complete the installation.

  8. Add a new account. Enter your name, e-mail address and the password for your account. Vajutage Continue.

  9. Check that your username is correct. Click Done

  10. Enter Your password

  11. Your account is set up
