Tartu Ülikooli infotehnoloogia osakonna poolt paigaldatud Microsoft Windows ning Microsoft Office tarkvara nõuavad aktiveerimist iga 180 päeva tagant.
Aktiveerimine toimub automaatselt, kui arvuti on ühendatud Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrku ning sellest tulenevalt ei puuduta käesolev juhend lauaarvuteid, mis on ühendatud Tartu Ülikooli hoonetes.
Tarkvara aktiveerimist nõuavad reeglina sülearvutid, mis on kasutuses ka väljaspool Tartu Ülikooli hooneid ning millel pole püsivat ligipääsu Tartu Ülikooli arvutivõrgule.

Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office licenses, that have been installed by the information technology office, require activation every 180 days.
Activation is done automatically, when the device is connected to the university's computer network, and thus is not applicable for desktop computers located on the university's campus.
Activation for Microsoft products is required for laptops, that are also being used off-campus and are not always connected to the university's computer network.
